Stop At: Bay View Farm, 83-5249 Painted Church Rd, Honaunau, Island of Hawaii, HI 96704-8316

Travel south into Kona coffee country for the first stop at Bay View Farm, a working 24-acre coffee farm nestled on the slopes of Mauna Loa Volcano just above beautiful Kealakekua Bay and known for the best Kona coffee since 1984. Here you’ll see coffee growing on the trees and learn about the various steps and processes in making coffee, all of which happen right here on the farm. You’ll sample 100% Kona Coffee at a gorgeous overlook with stunning views of Kealakekua Bay and the monument to Captain Cook standing on the only sliver of British land in the United States.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Punalu’u Black Sand beach, Highway 11, Pahala, Island of Hawaii, HI 96777

The adventure continues as you head through the South Kona and Ka’u Districts. Stunning views, alternating between stark lava flows and Hawaiian dry forest, are visible through the huge picture windows of your tour vehicle. We stop briefly at Punalu’u Bake Shop, the southern most bakery in America. Offering the finest time-honored Hawaiian sweetbreads since 1991, the Bake Shop offers an array of breads and cookies. Shortly thereafter, you’ll arrive at picturesque Punalu’u Black Sand Beach. Lined with swaying coconut palm trees, this is one of the best black sand beaches on the island. Stroll along the beach and look for honu (Green Hawaiian Sea Turtles) feeding just offshore or sun-worshipping on the sand. Picnic-style lunch will be served here weather permitting.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Volcano National Park, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Island of Hawaii, HI

Next travel to the crown jewel of the Big Island, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Visit the Kilauea Visitor’s Center, the Volcano Art Center, and famed Sulphur Banks. Take a hike out to Keanakako’i Crater and step over the sinkholes and cracks in the roads left behind the historic 2018 eruption here, then on to Mauna Ulu, one of the most culturally sensitive locations in the Park. You will see a landscape at Mauna Ulu like no other on Earth. Photo ops abound here, and the closer you look the more unusual and striking shapes and fascinating colors you will see.

Incredible to see active volcano at night Our guide was Brandon Williamson who was the best tour guide ever. He is well versed in botany a former teacher who knows history and facts about the island. While it was a long day (12 hours), Brandon made it fun as well as educational.

Great tour. Highly recommend We did the evening volcano tour a couple of days ago. The weather didn’t really cooperate, but still had a great time. Adam was a great guide: funny, very knowledgeable about Hawaiian history and mythology. Visited a coffee farm, black sand beach to see the green turtles, and the Volcano National Park. Would highly recommend their tours. Hopefully you’ll have better weather.

Coffee, Volcanos, Lava Tube and stars We had fun and learned so much about everything. Krystal is a fabulous tour guide with a lot of knowledge about everything we saw and more . My highlight was seeing the night sky above the clouds with Krystal’s astronomy knowledge. Much more fascinating than any planetarium! Thanks for the adventure!

Really cool and informational This was a great tour, and our guides were fantastic! They took us in a large van, and it was really nice because we had a big enough group that it basically ended up being a private tour. Our guides Rich and Lovie were both so nice and knowledgeable. The views from the coffee farm were so nice, and we got to try the coffee which was really good. We also visited the Punalu'u Bake Shop where we ate lunch outdoors, and our guides got us some sweets from the bakery. Then we went to the Punalu'u Black Sand Beach, and we saw some sea turtles there too. After that they took us to the Volcanos National Park, and we saw the Kilauea crater, and the Sulfur Banks, and lots of beautiful plants and volcanic formations. We also went to the Thurston Lava Tube and to a lava fissure in the ground. Rich taught us so much interesting information about every single place we went to. We had kids, teens, adults, and seniors, and it's a great tour for everyone. There is walking, but no intense hiking, so it's suitable for everyone.

Well worth it This was a great experience. Our guide Crystal was amazing. She knew all about everything we asked her and taught us a lot about the island we didn't know. The views and the coffee at the farm where we ate were both excellent. Even though the weather didn't cooperate that day, which hindered some of the views at the volcano, it was still well worth it.
