What to expect

This day trip from Maui to Pearl Harbor is easily one of the most moving and dramatic days you can spend in Hawaii. After the 30-minute flight from Maui to Oahu, tour the historic grounds of Pearl Harbor where Japanese bombers emptied their payloads on America’s Pacific fleet. Walk the decks of the USS Missouri where the Japanese armistice was signed. Peer over the side of the ship, and it’s still possible to see the dents from kamikaze bombers. This historic battleship was in active service until after Desert Storm, and dramatic details of its military service are told on the guided tour.

After the guided tour of Pearl Harbor, the tour continues with a historic journey through downtown Honolulu. Highlights include:

  • Iolani Palace—the only royal palace on American soil
  • The Mission House Museum
  • Kawaihao Church
  • The famous statue of King Kamehameha
  • Waikiki Beach •    Honolulu Hale
  • Punchbowl Crater
  • Nu’uanu Rainforest and Pali Lookout
  • Diamond Head Crater (if time permits)

Before returning to the Honolulu airport for the return flight to Maui, you’ll take a moment to remember the fallen at the Punchbowl National Cemetery. This also includes a short stop at the dramatic Courts of the Missing.

Loved it. Once in. Lifetime. Our tour guide (Garfield) was amazing. We learned so much from him. Seeing the Missouri and then the USS Arizona was beyond belief. It is our first trip to HI and were not sure it was worth the high cost to do this tour. It WAS worth it. We would regret it if we missed it. Polynesian made it easy. I wish they had better communication on flights but it was still easy. You can figure out a cheaper way but I would rather pay the extra and not have to plan, etc.

Pearl Harbor tour awesome! Tour of Pearl Harbor was very educational, with sunken ship and submarine to up close. I learned a lot seeing the museum photos and watching the short "movie" about Pearl Harbor attack. Plenty of gift shops and food venders. There was a veteran at one of the gift shops autographing books that had just been released.

Go on your own from Maui to see Pearl Harbor! We took the Polynesian Adventure Tours(PAT) day trip from Maui to Honolulu to see Pearl Harbor including Honolulu highlights. The Arizona Memorial and the Battle Ship Missouri were very moving, especially for this veteran, but that positive experience had nothing to do with PAT which added little value overall. First, their guide doesn’t accompany you on the tours of Arizona and Missouri. At Pearl Harbor all he did was hand us the entrance tickets. The second half of the tour, the so-called Honolulu highlights, was a boring waste of time doing a bus window drive-by. At the end at 3:10pm we began dropping off various Honolulu groups at their hotels in Waikiki. At 4pm only the four of us from Maui were left on the bus. Our airline departure time, chosen by PAT, wasn’t until 7:30pm so we asked Ron, What are we supposed to do now? He didn’t have a good answer other than we could get off the bus and look around for 1.5 hours and then he’d pick us up and take us to the airport. We were dumbfounded so we asked him to call his office and get us on an earlier return flight. After a few minutes he came back and said that the office said that they couldn’t do anything to change our scheduled flight. When we arrived at the airport we asked Hawaiian Airlines to put us on an earlier flight and they said that that was the responsibility of PAT who had bought the tickets. After we explained that PAT wouldn’t help us, they took pity and put us on the earlier flight and even waived the $30 per ticket change fee. What did I learn? I’ll never use PAT again. Second if you want to tour Pearl Harbor from Maui, buy your own airline tickets and take a taxi from Honolulu to Pearl Harbor and back.

Great Disembarkation solution & Must See We took a cruise of the Hawaiian Islands and one of the excursions offered was a tour of the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, with a drop off at the airport. This enabled us to get priority disembarkation, bus ride to Pearl Harbor, boat ride out to the Arizona Memorial, and bus ride to the airport. The best part is that they keep the luggage secured on the bus during the tour.

Polynesian Adventures and Kaleo are great! We had a great tour with Polynesian Adventures! They took care of everything free m beginning to end seamlessly. No stress here! Our tour guide, Kaleo, was a wealth of knowledge about all things on our tour and made the day entertaining. I can’t say enough good things about him! We would highly recommend this tour, Polynesian Adventures, and Kaleo to anyone interested. Thank you!

Moving Experience A bit pricey but was an enjoyable tour. The USS Arizona Memorial was closed due to repairs so that was a bit disappointing. However, the tour was quite moving and going around it by boat gave you a feel for being in the harbor. The tour guide was great - very funny and informative. Would have liked a little more time in Honolulu for sightseeing and shopping. Would recommend the tour.
