Good show! Mediocre food. Overall it was a great experience with Ka Moana! The show was amazing and the cultural activities were fun. I paid for the celebrity package and I felt it was worth it. My mother has limited mobility, so having the food brought to us made my life much simpler. The celebrity line for check-in and the bar was nice too. The food was a little meh, and if you’re looking to get drunk on the 2 drink tickets, it won’t happen here. I would do it again.

Complete waste of money I was very disappointed in this luau.

We got off to a rough start when as soon as we were seated, we were presented with mediocre food swarming with flies.

Next, I am a petite woman, barely over 5 feet tall. Knowing that I have trouble seeing over crowds of people, I spent the extra money to have the Celebrity package in order to be close to the stage. We were seated over to the far right, so that our backs were to the stage. Even when turning our chairs, the sight lines were so poor with all the people in front of me, I couldn’t see a thing. This area, according to the online map, is not even in the “Celebrity” area!

I suppose the dancers were decent, but I honestly couldn’t see most of the performance because we were so far back.

All in all, between the food and inability to enjoy the show, it was a complete waste of money and time.

Worthless Luau I have attended several Luaus in the past and was looking forward to having my friends experiencing one. This is not what happened. This Luau was poor from the start. We bought middle of the line tickets and were treated like second class citizens. There was a long line to get in for us but the highest price tickets basically just walked in. Once in the drink was so long that I missed the start of the show waiting in line. The drink tickets were only good for a watered down Mai Tai and a can of wine was $6 extra. The food except for the chicken was inedible and you served yourself. During the show the wait staff continuously walked in front of us so the show which was second rate was second rate was hard to watch. The star of the show was a Caucasian male who stood out because of his height and pale skin. His try for audience participation was horrendous. The other dancers were slightly better than average. I would not recommend this Luau for half the price.

Terrible! Don't even bother. Spend your money elsewhere, or on a different Luau! Absolutely terrible! The entire experience was an absolute disaster. It didn’t just rain, it was a downpour that completely ruined any chance of enjoying the evening. The "ponchos" they handed out were pathetic—cheap, flimsy things that lasted all of two minutes before my pants were soaked through and through. It’s almost laughable that they think that’s adequate protection.

Sure, the ad claims "the show goes on rain or shine," but even if the rain hadn’t been a problem, the food was so mediocre it was hard to care about anything else. When it’s cold and you’re sitting in the rain on a wet chair trying to eat, even if this was a five-star meal would be hard to appreciate, but alas it wasn't a five star meal, it was mediocre at best which the relentless rain water made intolerable.

For a company that’s supposedly been around for years, it’s baffling they didn’t have any contingency for the rain. A simple solution, like bringing out some large market umbrellas, could have made a world of difference. But no, instead, they just let everyone sit there in the downpour, getting completely drenched. They clearly care more about saving a buck than actually providing a decent experience for their customers.

When the rain started, they should’ve just canceled the show and refunded everyone’s money. Instead, people were leaving in droves, seeking shelter under the sparse awnings around the area. By the middle of the show, the place was practically empty—everyone had either left or taken cover elsewhere. It should have been completely embarrassing for Ka Moana but I doubt they care. They already have our money and after all we're just stupid tourists that agreed to sit in the rain when we purchased our tickets.

I paid for the "Celebrity VIP" tickets, and I honestly can’t believe how badly this company treated us. Ka Moana is clearly raking in the cash but has no interest in providing a quality experience. This was my third Luau, and it will definitely be my last at Ka Moana. Do yourself a favor—save your money or put it towards something better, because this is hands down the most disappointing, frustrating, and expensive waste of time I’ve ever had on vacation. By far the worst night of the entire trip.

Could improve some things! The show was very good but I paid extra so that I would be able to see and I couldn’t see the entire show. I’m not ever tall so that is why I went with the more expensive package . The show needs to have the stage taller so everyone can see.

An unforgettable night out for the entire family During our recent family holiday in Honolulu, our group of eight attended the Ka Moana Luau at the iconic Aloha Tower. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with warmth and genuine aloha spirit, making us feel like part of their ’ohana.

The evening began with interactive cultural activities that engaged all ages. We tried our hand at lei-making, learnt basic hula steps, and even had a go at playing the ukulele. These experiences provided a fun and educational insight into Hawaiian traditions.

The buffet dinner was a culinary delight, offering a variety of island-inspired dishes. We enjoyed traditional favourites like kalua pork and lomi lomi salmon, complemented by fresh local fruits. The quality and flavour of the food exceeded our expectations.

The highlight of the evening was the entertainment. The performers took us on a captivating journey through Polynesia with traditional chants, dances, and songs from various islands. The Samoan fire-knife performance was particularly exhilarating and left us in awe.

For families staying in Waikiki, the luau’s location at Aloha Tower is convenient, and transportation options are readily available. Our entire family, from the youngest to the oldest, had an unforgettable evening filled with culture, cuisine, and captivating performances. We highly recommend the Ka Moana Luau to anyone visiting Honolulu.

Great first Luau and taste of Polynesian culture A lovely first luau experience, this luau took place at the Aloha tower at sunset and was picture perfect. The transportation to the luau was a nice bonus of not having to worry about oarking and the seats we got (while loud because they were next to a speaker) were a good view of the stage without being too claustrophobic to other attendees. The food was good and fun to try various dishes (it's a buffet style and I recommend the Mahi fish) and the drinks were sweet and refreshing. The MCs did a lovely job keeping the crowd entertained and the variety of performances and dances were both informative and impressive. We thoroughly enjoyed the coconut tree climbing demonstration and the fire dances. We also loved how the show did a variety of dances and performances from the various Polynesian islands with explanation of each of them. Overall a great first luau and would recommend to anyone wanting to experience one.
